Student Minister

New Life Christian Church, right outside of Washington, DC in Chantilly, VA, is in search of their next Student Minister. New Life is a unique portable church with their main location being the nZone, an indoor sports, fitness, and community complex. Between their online church and 2 in-person locations, they have about 1,000 attendees each week. The nZone was designed based on the community need for a safe place for kids to hang out. The Student Minister will have a huge opportunity to create a vision and implement strategies for students to discover God and reach the community. (See pictures below)

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop relationships with and disciple students
• Carry overall vision and leadership for student ministry
• Lead and recruit volunteer leaders for the student ministry
• Coordinate programming for the student minstry to partner with nZone
• Collaborate with other ministries to integrate students into all phases of church life 
• Remain current on literature, trends, and practices in Student Ministry.

Skills you’ll need to have:

• Effective communication skills (oral and written)
• Be able to lead and thrive in a team-based environment
• Multi-tasker
• Teachable, responsive, respectful and can adapt with a fast-paced organization.
• 3-5 years leading a growing Student Ministry
• Adaptable and shows initiative (self-starter)
• Understanding of social media as it relates to students
• Empathy and ability to provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual counseling
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with selecting and implementing curriculum (familiarity with “Orange Strategy” a plus)
• Demonstrated conflict management skills
• Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of youth today

Chantilly is a historical, peaceful, small-town amidst the hustle and bustle of the big city. Everything you could want is close by – restaurants, shopping, parks, recreational activities, large libraries, entertainment, festivals, and events – there is always something to do and explore including the Udvar Hazy National Air and Space Museum right in Chantilly. The beach and mountains are easy day trips, and the fine art, history, and culture of DC is just a short drive or metro trip away.
