With a clear mission, strong values, and a heart for reaching our community, we are seeking a Lead Pastor who will provide spiritual leadership and guide us into our next season of ministry.

Eastridge Church is in Happy Valley, Oregon.  We are one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. This rapidly expanding area provides unique opportunities for ministry and outreach. 

Position Summary

The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader of Eastridge Church, working in close partnership with staff and the Leadership Team. This role is responsible for casting vision, shepherding the congregation, and leading ministries that foster spiritual growth, community engagement, and gospel impact.

The ideal candidate is a gifted communicator, relational leader, and strategic thinker who is passionate about making disciples and building a healthy, thriving church.

The ideal candidate will report to our current Transitional Pastor through August 31, 2027. This extended transition creates a unique opportunity to immerse in the life of the church, build trust, and thoughtfully prepare for long-term leadership. 

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership

• Provide overall spiritual direction, vision, and leadership for the church 
• Lead worship services and champion a culture of prayer, discipleship, and evangelism 

Preaching & Teaching

• Prepare and deliver biblically grounded, engaging, and relevant sermons 
• Equip the congregation through teaching that leads to life transformation 

Pastoral Care

• Offer spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to individuals and families 
• Provide care through hospital visits, crisis support, and prayer 

Staff Leadership & Development

• Lead, supervise, and mentor pastors and staff 
• Foster a healthy, unified, and mission-driven team culture 

Vision & Strategy

• Develop and clearly communicate a compelling vision for the future 
• Lead the church toward both spiritual depth and numerical growth 

Community Engagement

• Build relationships with local leaders and organizations 
• Mobilize the church for outreach and service in the community 

Leadership Development

• Identify, train, and equip emerging leaders within the church 
• Create pathways for people to grow in leadership and service 

Financial Stewardship

• Oversee church finances in partnership with leadership 
• Ensure resources are managed responsibly and aligned with the mission 

Collaboration & Alignment

• Work closely with ministry teams to ensure effectiveness and unity 
• Align all ministries with the church’s mission and strategy 

Denominational Engagement

• Engage with the Evangelical Covenant Church at local, regional, and national levels (covchurch.org)
• Pursue or maintain credentialing within the denomination 

Additional Responsibilities

• Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and special services 
• Help develop and implement church policies and procedures 
• Communicate regularly with the congregation (email, social media, etc.) 
• Participate in church-wide events and key ministry activities 

Qualifications 

• Strong, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ 
• Alignment with Eastridge Church’s beliefs, mission, and values 
• Proven experience in pastoral leadership and preaching 
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop leaders 
• Excellent communication and relational skills 
• Theological training or equivalent ministry experience 
• Willingness to pursue credentialing with the Evangelical Covenant Church
