We do not work for our salvation, but our salvation has been given to us freely by God himself through faith in Christ. Christ Community in Huntersville, NC, is seeking to fill the position of Pastor of Missions. 

Located in the fast-growing Lake Norman region of North Carolina, Huntersville is a suburban community which offers an exceptional quality of life and intentional small-town atmosphere. The Lake Norman region is the home of Davidson College, Lowe’s Corporate, and Trump National Golf Club. 

Sharing a border with Charlotte, one of the nation’s top financial centers, Huntersville attracts many families relocating to the area, as well as older families who want the conveniences of a major metro area without many of the issues often associated with city living. 

Christ Community, a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, is a Great Commission church with a focus on evangelism, missions, and discipleship. The church has over 1,100 active members and averages over 1,700 on Sundays. The church’s budget is over $5 million and includes nearly 20 percent designated for mission activities. The church is debt-free and is poised for exceptional growth and multiplication.

OVERVIEW 

Purpose and Primary Responsibilities: The Pastor of Missions provides vision and strategic leadership for all local, domestic, and international missions and church planting efforts at Christ Community Church. This role champions the church’s mission beyond its walls by stewarding strategy, partnerships, and leadership development in alignment with the overall vision and direction of the church. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Vision & Strategy 

● Provide overall vision and strategic direction for local and global missions and church planting, in close collaboration with and under the leadership of the Lead Pastor. 

● Establish goals, success metrics, and evaluation processes for missions and multiplication efforts to ensure faithfulness, fruitfulness, and alignment with church priorities. 

Church Planting & Multiplication 

● Champion church planting and revitalization efforts, providing strategic oversight of church multiplication pipeline by identifying, evaluating, and launching new congregations. 

● Cultivate and maintain relationships with church planting networks and partner organizations. 

● Represent Christ Community in church planting and multiplication conversations, partnerships, and networks as needed. 

Global Missions & Sending Strategy 

● Oversee missionary pipeline, including identification, assessment, preparation, sending, support, and long-term care. 

● Maintain and manage high-level partnerships with sending agencies and global ministries, including the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and other trusted partners. 

● Provide leadership in cultivating a culture of sending at Christ Community Church, with a particular emphasis on mobilizing members for short- and mid-term mission opportunities. 

● Ensure systems and leadership structures are in place to mobilize, prepare, and support mission teams and missionaries effectively. 

● Travel as appropriate to support missionaries, global partnerships, and mission initiatives. 

Leadership & Oversight 

● Provide pastoral leadership, coaching, and evaluation for missions staff, ensuring clarity of roles, healthy rhythms, and alignment with strategy. 

● Collaborate with the senior leadership to integrate missions and multiplication into the broader life of the church. 

● Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.

● Exemplify the qualifications of a pastor in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. 

● Possess strong character, wisdom, and discernment. 

● Analytical thinker with excellent people skills and a bias toward action. 

● A trusted, proven leader with a servant’s heart and demonstrated commitment to functioning in a high-performing team, has follow-through ability, and is committed to growing and empowering other leaders. 

● Ability to design systems and processes for continuous improvement. 

● Be a high-capacity person, able to handle a large diversity of details and projects, in an ever-changing environment. 

● Desires and is able to complement and support the vision and mission of Christ Community Church as set forth by the Lead Pastor.
