Part-Time Worship Team Leader Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church EPC
Job Summary: The Worship Team Leader is responsible for planning and leading Christ-centered, biblically faithful, and musically engaging worship music that aligns with the doctrine and values of Upper Octorara and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). This role involves coordinating musicians, selecting songs, and fostering a worshipful environment that encourages congregational participation. The Worship Team Leader will work closely with the Teaching Elder, Session, and Worship Committee to cultivate corporate worship that honors God and edifies the congregation. They are also expected to become an active member of Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church EPC, affirming its mission, doctrine, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead in a way that reflects the church's vision and helps lead the congregation to worship God
through scripturally sound lyrics and music. Have a strong personal faith, a heart for worship, and a desire to live a life that reflects Jesus both inside and outside the church.
Plan and lead music at weekly worship services, selecting a mix of contemporary and traditional
songs and elements that align with the sermon, a blended worship style and the church calendar.
Facilitate rehearsals before Sunday service to prepare the worship team and any other
musicians.
Assist in special services such as Christmas, Easter, weddings, and funerals, as needed.
Manage musical equipment and maintain administrative duties related to the ministry, including a required yearly tracking/reporting of song usage by CCLI.com.
Help to set and maintain the music ministry budget(s).
Qualifications:
A servant-hearted attitude, humility, and a willingness to learn.
A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, a deep love for the local church, community and kingdom results.
Agreement with the EPC’s Essentials of Faith.
Experience in leading within a structured worship setting.
Proficiency in at least one instrument (guitar, piano, etc.) and strong vocal ability.
An understanding of music theory that would allow leading musicians in a collaborative
environment.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate volunteers effectively.
Effective communication skills and a heart for discipleship and mentorship.
Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral staff, elders, and volunteers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge (or willingness to learn) of worship technology, including sound systems, presentation software (e.g., Power Point), and live streaming.
Some proficiency in multiple instruments.
Hours & Compensation:
Part-time position, approximately 7-10 hours per week.
Compensation commensurate with experience and church budget.
