Position Summary
The Part-Time Worship Leader will plan and lead musical worship during weekly services in a way that is welcoming, clear, and engaging for our congregation. This role focuses on helping people participate in worship, not performance. The ideal candidate is spiritually mature, dependable, and comfortable working with an older congregation.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead worship music for weekly Sunday services and special services as needed (holidays, funerals, etc.).
- Select music that fits our congregation, with an emphasis on hymns and traditional or blended worship styles.
- Coordinate with the pastor to align music with sermon themes and the church calendar.
- Lead rehearsals as needed and support any volunteer musicians or singers.
- Ensure worship is clear, organized, and easy for the congregation to follow.
- Maintain a respectful, worship-focused environment rather than a performance-oriented one.
Qualifications
- A personal faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for worship ministry.
- Experience leading worship in a church setting (formal or informal).
- Comfortable leading traditional hymns and simple worship songs.
- Ability to sing and/or play an instrument (piano or guitar preferred).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well with pastoral staff and volunteers.
- Comfortable working with and serving an elderly congregation.
Preferred (but not required)
- Familiarity with hymnals and traditional church music styles.
- Ability to read sheet music or lead from chord charts.
- Experience with Planning Center, ProPresenter, or similar tools.
