Job Description

 

Full Time Worship Leader/Associate Ministry Leader

 

Overview: This is a full-time position comprising two roles and reporting to the senior pastor. Approximately 25 hours a week will be devoted to leading a vibrant, organized worship program that develops worship team members into leaders who work as a Spirit-led team to bring our people into the worship of the Living God. Approximately 15 hours a week will be devoted to a secondary leadership position based on the candidate’s experience and gifting.

Competencies and responsibilities:

1.      Foster a Spirit of Worship

 

Create an atmosphere that encourages and facilitates worship. Lead and equip others to lead congregational singing, modeling a heartfelt and authentic expression of praise and adoration to glorify God.

2.      Lead and Coordinate Worship Services

 

Plan, prepare, and lead worship in church services, ensuring a spiritually engaging and discipling experience for the community.

3.      Select and Arrange Worship Songs

 

Collaborating with the senior pastor, select contemporary music and hymns that align with the theme and purpose of each service. Arrange songs in a way that creates a cohesive and impactful worship flow.  

       4.  Lead Musical Rehearsals, Providing Musical Direction and Guidance

Schedule and lead rehearsals during the week and Sunday morning pre-service with musicians, vocalists, and other worship team members to ensure a polished and synchronized performance. Give clear direction to musicians and vocalists during rehearsals and worship services, ensuring proper dynamics, timing, and musical interpretation. Schedule all music participants. Develop depth of performers.

       

 5. Recruit, Support, and Mentor Worship Team Members

Recruit team members and work closely with musicians and technical teams to ensure seamless coordination during church services. Provide leadership to foster teamwork and unity. Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to worship team members, encouraging their spiritual growth and musical development.

 6.    Manage Technical Teams

Recruit, train, and schedule audio, lighting, and visual teams to ensure the technical aspects of worship during church services. Facilitate slide production for song lyrics. Perfect sound levels, stage lighting, and projection, enhancing the worship experience. Ensure the service is filmed and quality sound and video files are available for the communications team.

     7. Continuously Develop Musical Skills and Knowledge

Stay updated with current worship music trends and techniques. Expand musical repertoire and skillset to bring variety and excellence to worship services. Use instrumental music, knowledge of music theory, and more.

 8.    Participate in Worship Planning Meetings and Staff Meetings

Attend worship planning meetings with the senior pastor to contribute ideas, share feedback, and collaborate on the schedule and themes of upcoming church services. Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor at times and places he determines.

  9. Other tasks as assigned.

Depending on church needs and the candidate’s giftedness, responsibilities may include: event planning and coordination, support for and participation in church-wide strategic initiatives, Small Group leadership, and volunteer development/administration of other ministries.

Policy for time off:

3 Sundays per year of absence are allowed for personal reasons, including vacation, personal time, or sickness. No more than 2 consecutive Sundays at a time.

 

2 Sundays of absence are allowed for ministry.

 

Presence is required on Palm Sunday, Easter, and Christmas Eve. May miss only one Sunday of Advent.

When the Leader is absent all teams (band members, tech, set up, etc.) are scheduled and fully prepared.

 

Compensation: $48,000 annually for 40 hours per week

 

Schedule, Employment Status, and Review Frequency:

 

40 hours per week.  Attendance is required for Sunday morning worship.

This position is probationary for the first 90 days. The staff member will initially be reviewed by the senior pastor at 30, 60, and 90 days. Following the probationary period, the worship leader will be reviewed quarterly and as needed by the Senior Pastor.
