OVERVIEW

Founded in 1872, Sacred Heart Parish is a faith community of over 1,000 households, offering a variety of ministries and programs for all ages. It operates Sacred Heart Academy, the only Pre-K through 12th grade Catholic school in the Diocese of Saginaw, as well as Calvary Cemetery. The parish is located in Mt Pleasant, Michigan, home of Central Michigan University.


Sacred Heart Parish is seeking a dynamic Business Manager to oversee the administrative and business functions of the parish and academy. This hands-on position includes accounting duties such as preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations and month-end close. The Business Manager is a key member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Pastor. This person will work closely with the Finance Council and school administrators, providing data, reports and advice to aid in decision making and long-range planning. This position is full-time and salary is commensurate with skill, education and experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Financial Management

  • Parish and academy accounting, budgets, financial reporting and operations
  • Monitors cash flow and projects needs for normal operations; invests excess cash
  • Ensures resources are managed with integrity and discipline to advance the mission of the parish and school


Personnel Management

  • Processes payroll/human resources administration
  • Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates parish secretarial, clerical, financial, cafeteria, maintenance, cemetery, parish center and transportation staff


Facilities Management

  • Oversees the Facilities Director; supervises maintenance of all parish properties, building, and vehicles
  • Coordinates parish insurance program with Diocese/Michigan Catholic Conference insurance program
  • Safety and risk management


Oversight of Pupil Transportation and the School Lunch Program


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting desired
  • 5+ years of qualifying experience in non-profit, for-profit or education settings including demonstrated accounting and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills (verbal and written), ability to maintain confidentiality, and demonstrated use of prudent judgment to act and solve problems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • A heart of service and a commitment to Sacred Heart's mission and values. A practicing Catholic is preferred but not required.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license

Salary range $50,000-$70,000
