Braeswood Assembly of God is seeking a spiritually mature, highly organized, and visionary Children’s Pastor to lead and oversee ministry for children from Birth through 5th Grade across our campuses.
Our primary campus averages approximately 700 adults, youth and children in weekly attendance, with an additional campus averaging approximately 120 in attendance.
The Children’s Pastor will provide direct leadership at the primary campus and strategic oversight at the additional campus to ensure doctrinal alignment, ministry excellence, and safety compliance.
This role includes direct supervision of a Part-Time Early Childhood Coordinator (15 hours per week), forming a cohesive Birth–5th Grade leadership structure.
The Children’s Pastor will work alongside the Youth & College-Age Pastor within a unified Next Generation team and is supported by a shared Next Gen administrative assistant.

DOCTRINAL ALIGNMENT & CREDENTIALING
- Must fully affirm and align with the doctrinal position of the Assemblies of God.
- Must hold current Assemblies of God ministerial credentials or be willing to pursue credentialing within two (2) years of hire.
- Must model a Spirit-filled lifestyle consistent with AG theology and practice.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Leadership & Vision:
(Birth–5th Grade)
- Provide comprehensive vision and leadership for Birth through 5th Grade ministry.
- Develop and implement a clear discipleship pathway for children.
- Ensure theological consistency and spiritual vibrancy in all children’s environments.
- Foster a culture of prayer, biblical literacy, and Spirit-empowered teaching.
Supervision of Early Childhood Coordinator:(15 Hours/Week)
- Provide direct oversight, coaching, and accountability for the Part-Time Early Childhood Coordinator.
- Conduct regular leadership meetings and evaluations.
- Ensure alignment in curriculum, safety standards, volunteer training, and ministry philosophy.
- Develop leadership capacity within the early childhood team.
- Maintain seamless coordination between early childhood and elementary ministry.
- The Children’s Pastor functions as the department head for all Birth–5th Grade ministries.
Primary Campus Operational Leadership:
- Oversee all Sunday and midweek children’s environments.
- Recruit, train, and retain volunteer leaders.
- Select and implement curriculum aligned with AG doctrine.
- Maintain consistent parent communication.
- Develop classroom coordinators and team leaders.
- Oversee camps, special events, and family ministry initiatives.
Additional Campus Oversight:
(Strategic Supervision)
- Provide coaching and oversight to children’s leadership at the additional campus.
- Ensure safety policies and background checks are consistently enforced.
- Maintain curriculum and doctrinal alignment.
- Conduct periodic on-site visits for evaluation and encouragement.
- Support integration between campuses in shared events and ministry transitions.
- This role does not require weekly operational management at the additional campus but requires consistent oversight and accountability.
Safety & Compliance Leadership:
At a church of this size, children’s ministry carries significant responsibility. The Children’s Pastor will:
- Ensure all volunteers complete background checks.
- Maintain classroom safety protocols.
- Oversee check-in systems.
- Coordinate with security teams as needed.
- Provide volunteer training in safety and child protection.
Leadership Development & Systems:
- Build and sustain a healthy volunteer culture.
- Track ministry metrics (attendance, retention, salvations, baptisms).
- Evaluate ministry health quarterly.
- Manage approved budgets responsibly.
- Partner closely with the Youth & College Pastor to ensure smooth 5th-to-6th grade transitions.
Administrative Structure:
A shared Next-Gen administrative assistant provides operational support across Children’s and Youth/College ministries.
The Children’s Pastor is responsible for:

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years children’s ministry leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supervising staff or key volunteer leaders.
- Experience in multi-campus or scalable ministry environments is a plus.
