About the Associate Pastor of Children and Youth Ministries:

Position Overview:

The  Associate Pastor of Children and Youth serves as a visionary leader responsible for the spiritual development and discipleship of children, teenagers and young adults by building one relationship at a time. This newly created role encompasses comprehensive ministry leadership across multiple age groups, creating cohesive pathways for spiritual growth from early childhood through young adulthood and measures success not by attendance numbers alone, but by whether children, youth and young adults are truly known and genuinely cared for. He or she will lead through servant leadership while working to build thriving ministries that align with the church’s vision and values where the next generation can encounter Christ and grow in their faith. 

Key Responsibilities

Ministry Leadership & Vision

·      Develop and implement a comprehensive Children and Youth Programs.

·      Provide Visionary leadership that creates seamless transitions and connections between age-group ministries.

·      Oversee weekly programming, special events, camps, conferences, mission trips, and service projects across all children and youth age-groups.

·      Establish and maintain ministry goals that support the overall church mission and vision.

Volunteer Development

·      Recruit, train and supervise volunteer teams across children and youth ministries.

·      Provide ongoing support, coaching and training development opportunities to volunteers.

·      Create volunteer appreciation and recognition programs to maintain strong ministry teams.

Program Development & Implementation

·      Select, develop and or design age-appropriate curriculum and programming for children and youth.

·      Coordinate Bible studies, small groups and discipleship opportunities across all children and youth age groups.

·      Plan and execute seasonal events, retreats and special ministry initiatives to encompass the entire year.

·      Develop safety protocols and child protection policies for Chatham Baptist Church ministries.

Pastoral Care & Discipleship

·      Provide pastoral care, support and counseling to children and youth and their families within Chatham Baptist Church community.

·      Build relationships with families, communicate with parents regarding events.

·      Engage with other youth sponsored religious and/or secular groups to draw a wide range of socioeconomical groups to Chatham Baptist Church.

·      Provide Pulpit supply as needed in support of the Senior Pastor and in outreach to church members and the community at large and other related ministries.

Administration

·      Manage the Children and Youth Ministry budgets and make recommendations.

·      Maintain attendance records and file reports of all activities.

·      Participate in and provide reports in all Business Meetings.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

·      Bachelor’s degree in Bible, Ministry, Theology, Youth Ministry, or related field.

·      Minimum of 3-years’ experience in children or youth Ministries.

·      Demonstrated success in building and leading programs across different age groups.

·      Experience in supervision and volunteer management.

Ministry Skills & Competencies

·      Strong biblical knowledge and commitment to sound theological principles.

·      Excellent communication and public speaking skills.

·      Proven leadership abilities in program development and team building.

·      Experience in event planning, budget management and ministry administration.

·      Proficient in current technology and social media platforms relevant to ministry.

Personal Characteristics

·      A genuine heart for the discipling of children and youth in their faith as the next generation.

·      High emotional intelligence and relational skills.

·      Creative problem-solving and innovative thinking.

·      Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·      Ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor and other ministry staff.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works collaboratively with other staff and ministry leaders to ensure integrated ministry programming and effective communication across all church ministries.

Hours & Benefits

Classified as a full-time, exempt employee; 40 + hours per week. Our salary and benefits are equal to, if not in excess of, similar ministry positions. Further details will be described in full, once the candidate is chosen for an in-person or virtual interview.
