Position Summary
The Worship Arts & Music Pastor/Director is passionate about connecting people with God through music, media, and the arts. Reporting to the Senior Pastor, this person plans and leads worship, builds and shepherds the Worship Arts Ministry, and creates meaningful encounters between God and people in every worship experience.
Spiritual & Personal Qualifications
• Knows Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, and is divinely called and equipped as a worship Pastor/Director.
• Holds a biblical theology of worship and can teach from that framework.
• Is a model worshiper who draws others into participation, and a faithful tither.
• Has the heart of a shepherd for the worship team and the broader church.
• Is creative, flexible across music styles, and unafraid to explore new expressions of worship.
Experience & Skills
• Minimum 4 years of full-time Worship Arts & Music leadership; seminary experience preferred.
• Musical gifting and training to equip and deploy worship leaders.
• Working knowledge of contemporary/praise and traditional worship styles.
• Technical aptitude with multimedia, sound systems, digital and analog sound boards, presentation software, and computers.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills for working with all age groups.
Worship & Ministry Responsibilities
Leading Worship
• Serve as platform leader for contemporary/praise worship.
• Lead traditional worship, or equip and oversee a volunteer to lead choral music.
• Plan and oversee worship services in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.
Building the Team
• Recruit, train, encourage, and support volunteers across the Worship Arts & Music ministries.
• Disciple team members in spiritual and ministry growth through regular training for musicians, vocalists, and artists.
• Develop choirs, ensembles, trios, quartets, and other special musical groups.
• Oversee and support the Worship Partnership and Worship Ministry Teams.
Leading the Ministry
• Develop a church-wide Worship Arts & Music strategy with long-range goals and short-term objectives.
• Serve as a Worship Arts & Music resource for all church ministries.
• Promote ministry activities through church media, and research and schedule conferences, seminars, and retreats.
• Stay current on Worship Arts & Music trends through workshops and personal growth conferences.
• Directly oversee the Worship Arts & Music budget.
Associate Pastoral Responsibilities
• Work in harmony with the Senior Pastor and staff, attending weekly staff meetings and contributing input, inspiration, and leadership.
• Keep a weekly schedule coordinated with other staff, taking one day off each week (M–F) barring emergencies.
• Make hospital, home, and other visits as needed, and participate in related ministry meetings.
• Be visibly involved in the church's overall ministry.
• Take on additional areas of ministry as fitted to personal passion, giftedness, and skills.
