Youth Pastor

Principle Function:

            The Youth Pastor is to lead the church’s ministries for youth grades 7 – 12, assist in the church’s ministries for children grades K – 6, to serve as an outreach to the families of children and youth in our community and to assist them in becoming involved in their children’s spiritual development.

Responsibilities:

1.     Work with the Pastor and other church staff as well as youth and children’s teams in establishing organized and active children and youth programs.

2.     Encourage and enlist active family involvement in the church through the planning and implementation of the student programs.

3.     Attend all church services and functions.

4.     Plan and coordinate Wednesday evening and Sunday morning and evening youth Bible studies.

5.     Plan and coordinate a minimum of two additional youth events a month.

6.     Make sure adult supervision is present during any youth meeting, event or trip.

7.     Assist with Team Kid Worship Rally.

8.     Plan and coordinate annual summer camps and/or mission trips for the youth and children.

9.     Plan and coordinate the youth calendar of events with the Youth Team.

10.  Assist the Children’s Team with events and programs for children grades K – 6.

11.  Act as a liaison between community, schools, other church’s youth and children’s programs and Simpson Baptist Church.

12.  Assist in worship services and other activities of the church, including visitations.

13.  Counsel with youth and families as needs arise.

14.  Other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Pastor.

15.  Maintain regularly scheduled job-related activities at the church to provide adequate access to the church members and keep daily activity log of duties and contacts. Activity logs are to be turned in weekly to the Pastor or Personnel Chairman.     

16.  Keep the church Secretary knowledgeable of work location at all times. 

Policies:

1.     The Youth Pastor is responsible to the Pastor and Personnel Committee in all matters regarding the fulfillment of responsibilities.

2.     The Youth Pastor will follow all guidelines as presented in the Constitution and By-Laws.

3.     The Youth Pastor will be present at all church youth functions; if not he will need to have a designated adult person in charge. Anytime he is unable to attend he will also be responsible for contacting either the Church Secretary and/or the Personnel Chairman in advance to notify administrations of his absence and of whom will be designated to be in charge in his absence.
