Student Ministry Pastor

Description:

The Student Ministry Pastor will provide strategic leadership, vision, and pastoral care for our student ministry (6th–12th grade). The primary focus of this role is to help each student discover, develop and do life with Jesus. The goal is to transform our current community of 80 students into a thriving ministry of 150 students by building robust discipleship pathways, engaging families, and executing a comprehensive outreach strategy. As a vital member of our 1,000+ member church staff, this position also includes broader pastoral responsibilities, including regular preaching opportunities during Sunday main services, officiating ordinances, and contributing to the overall leadership of the church.

General Responsibilities

→ Strategic Ministry Growth & Vision (35%)

• Scale the Ministry: Develop and execute a relationally-focused, data-driven growth strategy to scale weekly youth attendance from 80 to 150 students.
• Outreach & Culture: Create high-attraction event strategies, campus ministry initiatives (e.g., local school partnerships), and digital outreach campaigns to reach unchurched youth.
• Discipleship Pipeline: Design and implement relevant, biblical curriculum and small group structures tailored specifically to middle and high school students.

→ Volunteer Recruitment & Leadership Development (30%)

• Team Building: Actively recruit, interview, and onboard high-caliber volunteer leaders to maintain a safe and healthy adult-to-student ratio.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide ongoing leadership development, spiritual shepherding, and practical skills training for the volunteer team.
• Safety & Compliance: Oversee safety policy enforcement, and onboarding compliance for all youth ministry workers.

→ Administration & Parent Engagement (20%)

• Parent Partnership: Actively resource and communicate with parents, providing tools to extend spiritual development into the home.
• Budgeting: Wisely manage the annual youth ministry budget, ensuring strategic allocation for events, curriculum, and leadership pipelines.

→ Sunday Preaching & Associate Pastoral Duties (15%)

• Main Service Preaching: Serve on the primary teaching rotation, delivering engaging, biblically sound sermons in adult services on assigned Sundays.
• General Pastoral Care: Support the Senior and Lead Pastor with general pastoral duties, including hospital visitations, and officiating baptisms, weddings, or funerals as required.
• Staff Collaboration: Participate actively in staff meetings, alignment days, and church-wide operational planning.

Must-Haves

• Spiritual Maturity: A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, a committed prayer life, and a lifestyle that aligns with biblical qualifications for leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, Youth Ministry, Theology, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Experience: 2-3 years of hands-on experience leading a growing youth ministry, preferably within a mid-to-large-size church environment (500+ attendees).
• Proven Growth Tracker: A documented track record of successfully expanding a ministry’s size, recruiting volunteers, and launching outreach strategies.
• Preaching Ability: Strong public speaking and communication skills, with the ability to confidently teach both a group of middle schoolers and a broad, intergenerational main service congregation. Passionate about helping others discover, develop, and do life with Jesus
• Tithing: Giving at least 10% of your income to the mission and vision of CrossPointe Church

Nice-To-Haves

• Experience planning and executing youth ministry events (summer camps, etc.)
• Social Media Strategy concept
• A working knowledge in Google Drive Suite 
• A working knowledge of Planning Center operations or similar management software
