Washington Heights Baptist Church (WHBC) is prayerfully seeking a Worship Arts Pastor to lead Christ-centered, Spirit-led worship in a multi-generational congregation.

We are a church with a heart for the gospel—across the street and around the world—and worship plays a central role in our life together. This role is ideal for a worship pastor who values pastoral care as much as musical excellence and can lead across generations, honoring tradition while thoughtfully introducing new expressions of worship.

Role Overview

The Worship Arts Pastor serves on the pastoral staff and works closely with the Lead Pastor to plan and lead weekly worship gatherings. As a medium sized church (around 350-400), this role includes both hands-on leadership and shepherding.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead Sunday morning worship in collaboration with the Lead Pastor
• Lead a multi-generational congregation in a variety of worship styles
• Recruit, train, rehearse, and pastor volunteer worship and production teams
• Oversee worship-related technology, media, and live streaming
• Plan and lead special services (Easter, Christmas, Good Friday, etc.)
• Coordinate with Student and Children’s Ministries to invest in the next generation
• Provide pastoral care and assist with weddings, funerals, and other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a call to pastoral ministry
• Bachelor’s degree in a ministry-related field (post-graduate study preferred)
• 3–5 years of worship or music ministry experience preferred
• Servant-hearted, collaborative, and able to manage multiple responsibilities

Skills (or Willingness to Learn)

ProPresenter, Planning Center, musical fluency, Behringer X32, StreamSpot, and worship service production/live streaming.
