
Executive Summary
The Kid’s Pastor at Faith Tri-Cities provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the Kids Ministry at Faith Tri-Cities, serving children from birth through fifth grade and their families. This role is responsible for creating engaging, age-appropriate environments that help children find and follow Jesus while ensuring the ministry reflects the church’s vision, values, and culture.

Reporting directly to the Lead Pastor and working closely with the church staff, the Kid’s Pastor recruits, trains, and develops volunteer and staff teams, oversees early childhood ministries, and ensures safe, well-organized, and well-staffed programming for all gatherings and special events. They establish and maintain policies for child safety and care, manage ministry
calendars and activities, and communicate effectively with parents, staff, and leadership.
The Kid’s Pastor also manages the annual Children’s Ministry budget, participates fully in staff meetings and church initiatives, and represents Faith Tri-Cities within the broader community and the Northwest Ministry Network. This is a collaborative, hands-on leadership role requiring both pastoral heart and organizational strength, with a regular weekday schedule and weekend ministry responsibilities. POSITION TITLE: Kids Pastor
I. GENERAL
The Kid’s Pastor is responsible for the vision, development, and execution of the Kid’s Ministry of Faith Tri-Cities. They will be responsible for reflecting the vision, values, and culture of the church in their own life and leadership and within the context of the ministry they lead. They will recruit, train, and develop teams. They will meet with and coordinate the department's activities and ensure that all aspects of the ministry are properly assigned to qualified leadership.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Kid’s Pastor is accountable directly to the Lead Pastor and is under the general oversight of the official Church Board. They will maintain a close working relationship with the entire staff of Faith Tri-Cities in the exercise of their responsibility.
III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A They will lead a team in providing gatherings that engage kids in Finding and Following Jesus with age and stage-appropriate ministry for birth through fifth grade.
B. They will oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and placement of personnel in the key positions of leadership in the Kids Ministries.
C. They will meet periodically and maintain regular communication with personnel responsible for the specific areas of the ministry and keep the Lead Pastor informed as to pertinent information.
D. They are responsible for the Early Childhood area and will coordinate with the Early Childhood Team to train, staff, and equip, all nursery care for regularly scheduled services and special events.
E. They will establish and coordinate the development of written policies for the protection and proper care of kids and ensure understanding and operational effectiveness of all ministries under their area of responsibility.
F. They will oversee and coordinate Faith Kids activities, camps, calendar, etc., and communicate information to the Pastoral Team, office, and parents.
G. They will support and be involved in the Northwest Ministry Network, the Tri-Cities community, and networking with other local churches.
1H. They will be responsible for developing, tracking, and maintaining a Faith Kids Ministry annual budget.
I. They will attend and contribute to staff meetings and working teams.
J. They will support and assist the Lead Pastor and Pastoral Team in various areas of ministry.
K. They will maintain a regular work schedule of 9-5 Monday – Thursday as well as any weekend ministry. Any accommodations will be communicated the Lead Pastor and office team.
L. They will oversee the churchwide background check procedure and execution in coordination with ministry leaders, office staff, and the Pastoral Team.
M. It will be understood that this job description is a living document and may be amended by the Lead Pastor to best utilize the skillset, strengths, and personal growth of the Kids Pastor.
