Lead Worship Pastor

About the Position

The Lead Worship Pastor is responsible for directing, supervising, visioning, planning, coordinating, operating, administering, and evaluating a comprehensive Music/Worship Ministry.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

• Serve as Platform Worship Leader at the Deville Campus – Leading regular Sunday worship services, revivals (as assigned), working with Adult Choir, Praise Team and orchestra. In addition, he will work with worship leaders at HD and Faith Hall to develop and maintain excellence in music selection and production to enhance worship at all venues.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings to ensure coordination of Music Ministry with all other Ministries of Philadelphia Baptist Church.
• Coordinate the church Music Ministry with the calendar and special emphasis of the church.
• Provide musical leadership and assistance for special events such as weddings, funerals, and events to be held in the church.
• Oversee a comprehensive graded choir program. This person will assist in recruiting, developing, and overseeing volunteers working with age graded choirs and servant ministries.
• Be responsible for enlisting and training leaders for the Music Ministry.
• Coordinate the performance schedules of music groups and individuals in the functions of the church.
• Collaborate with the Media director to provide quality and excellence in every worship service utilizing sound, lighting and media technology.
• Supervise maintenance of and additions to music library and equipment needed to produce high quality worship experience.
• Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotion and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.
• Coordinate the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals.
• Prepare an annual budget for the Music Ministry to the Stewardship Ministry Team. Responsible for the administration of the music budget.

Other general responsibilities:

• Cooperate with the Senior Pastor and other staff members in promoting the entire ministry plan of PBC.
• Make hospital visits according to the rotation schedule.
• Be available for counseling of church and nonchurch members as needed.
• Supervise the music and media ministry administrative assistant.
• Give full support to the General Operating Budget of Philadelphia Baptist Church and avoid soliciting or expending funds not previously authorized.
• Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in PBC’s Employee Handbook and Ministry Safe program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Personal Responsibilities

• Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation.
• Maintain proper priorities in your home and be a spiritual leader to your spouse and children, if married.
• Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
• Financially support the work of ministries of Philadelphia Baptist Church by faithfully giving at least 10% of your income. Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%.
