Job Description

The Children’s Director will be responsible for the execution of all children’s ministry services and events. This person is to uphold themself to a high standard of both spiritual and leadership excellence and to ensure that the spiritually authentic atmosphere of the Jefferson First Baptist DNA is maintained across all children’s services. This person must be highly organized and recruit and develop large teams of volunteers to develop a world-class children’s ministry experience. The director of Children’s ministry should have the ability to build a ministry where kids, parents and volunteers grow in faith and connect relationally.

Jefferson First Baptist is in a season of tremendous growth in one of the fastest growing counties (Jackson) and cities (Jefferson) in Georgia. Jefferson is the county seat of Jackson County with arguably the best City Schools (Jefferson City Schools) in the state. To help reach the younger families that are moving to Jackson County, FBC Jefferson recently hired their new Senior Pastor, Sean Myers, to bring a fresh vision, mission, and branding to the church. With the transition of the Senior Pastor, FBC Jefferson is in the process of hiring a new staff that God would call to the next season of ministry under the leadership of Pastor Sean Myers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Give point leadership to our children’s ministry by creating and maintaining a fun, relational, attractive environment where they are taught faithfully and known personally.
  • Children’s environments and volunteers follow the Jefferson First Baptist policies and procedures for safety, security, and sanitation.
  • Ensure the Bible is being taught clearly and effectively through a planned curriculum to best serve and reach each environment appropriately.
  • Parents experience excellent service, communication and are provided with opportunities to be involved in the spiritual development of their children (baby dedication/baptism/curriculum).
  • Recruit, assimilate, and develop new volunteers for Children’s Ministry.
  • Work with the Senior Pastor to ensure the values and vision of Jefferson First Baptist are being carried out in Children’s Ministry and weekly Wednesday night events.
  • Budget to ensure we come under budget and reach our ministry objectives. 
  • Coordinate curriculum and supplies ordering for children’s environments.
  • Initiate and lead projects for continuous improvements in Children’s Ministries.
  • Develops positive relationships with parents and children.
  • Oversee and run all Sunday Services and Wednesday Night Children’s Events, and VBS.

Spiritual Criteria:

  • Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Commitment to personal spiritual growth.
  • Models standards and expectations of leaders within First Baptist Jefferson.
  • Must attend First Baptist Jefferson.

Experience:

  • 1-2 Years of Children’s Ministry experience preferred.
  • Highly called, passionate about children’s ministry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook
  • Exemplary Oral & Written skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solver, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
