JOB TITLE: Minister to Children
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
FULL-TIME or PART-TIME: Full-time
JOB SUMMARY
The Minister to Children at Heights Baptist Church is to develop a spiritual foundation for the life of each child, birth through 5th grade, so that they will become aware of God’s love and accept Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior. The minister will encourage the child’s spiritual growth and equip parents to develop a biblical worldview within their family.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be Christ-centered and have a strong personal commitment to the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ. Must be a strong spiritual leader, self-motivated, and creative. He/she must be highly relational, possess a strong team mentality, and lead staff/volunteer teams to provide a comprehensive program of Christian education. Candidates should have a high school diploma. College and seminary training is preferred. The candidate must have experience serving in children’s ministry with at least one year in a leadership position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and continually evaluate a strategic plan for the Children’s Ministry of Heights Baptist Church that aligns with the church’s mission statement.
2. Provide leadership and direction for key programs of the Children’s Ministry such as Sunday morning Life Groups and Sunday and Wednesday evening activities. Support the Special Needs Ministry as needed.
3. Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to the Children’s Ministry Team including Preschool Ministry Director, the Children’s Childcare Coordinator, and the Children’s Ministry Administrative Assistant.
4. Recruit, train, and empower members of Heights Baptist Church to reach, serve, and disciple children and their families.
5. Develop and execute a communication plan within the ministry that would include a social media presence.
6. Develop ways for children of Heights Baptist Church to serve our community in various service projects.
7. Develop and implement outreach opportunities for our members to serve the children of our community, potentially through local schools.
8. Oversee seasonal events and programs, including but not limited to VBS, camps and Upward Basketball and Cheer.
9. Provide Pastoral Care such as salvation counseling, baptism follow-up, and support for children and their families in times of need.
10. Equip parents to be involved in the spiritual formation of their children.
11. Perform various administrative tasks to support the Children’s Ministry.
12. Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.

In addition, the minister will encourage the child’s spiritual growth and equip parents to develop a biblical worldview within their family. We desire someone who is a hard worker, a team player, and feels a strong calling to reach the next generation for Jesus.
