The Worship Leader assists the Worship Pastor and Staff in advancing ministry vision by cultivating a life-giving, passionate, and skillful culture of worship through leadership in corporate gatherings and intentional next-generation worship development. This role will be one of the leading voices in shepherding our church through song while modeling spiritual maturity, humility, teachability, and an acumen for servant leadership, all in alignment with Doxa Church’s worship philosophy, doctrine, vision, mission, and values.
WORSHIP MINISTRY
- Lead worship for main services on Sundays (40 weeks per year).
- Lead worship for all Church Prayer and Worship services (Quarterly).
- Lead worship and plan sets for auxiliary events as directed by the Worship Pastor.
- Lead and execute liturgical elements, scripture readings, and transitional moments between songs effectively with confidence.
- Requirement to lead worship in place of the worship pastor when absent.
- Must be ok with leading all holiday and special services.
- Act as Worship Department Liaison between other Doxa departments, people, and/or external entities.
- Assist the Worship Staff with department planning, execution of endeavors, implementation of projects, and weekly tasks as assigned by the Worship Pastor.
- Attend all staff or departmental meetings as directed by the Worship Pastor. Attend weekly cross-departmental Sunday check-in meetings as the Worship Department representative and report back to the Worship Pastor.
- Have a general working knowledge of musical gear used on Sundays and be able to troubleshoot, maintain, perform (or coordinate with third parties for) maintenance, and/or build out platforms for worship ministry gear use (e.g., hold knowledge or ability to learn the ins and outs of things like Nords, pedals, pedal platforms, guitars, drums).
- Partner in the volunteer onboarding process, such as auditions and volunteer vetting.
STUDENT WORSHIP MINISTRY:
- Oversee Student Ministry Worship.
- Plan, prepare, and lead worship for students (Wednesday Nights).
- Develop a vibrant culture of worship within the student ministry.
- Administer, coordinate, schedule, and communicate all things for student worship.
- Train and develop student worship volunteers.
- Lead efficient and effective weekly rehearsals for the student worship team.
- Engage, encourage, and pour into student worship volunteers.
- Plan, prepare, and lead worship for Doxa Students Summer Camps.
KIDS WORSHIP MINISTRY
- Oversee Kids Ministry Worship.
- Primarily delegate leading to volunteers, but fill in when necessary.
- Administer, coordinate, schedule, and communicate all things for kids' worship.
- Plan weekly worship sets for volunteers that serve the weekly Doxa Kids’ curriculum.
- Engage, encourage, and pour into kid worship volunteers.
- Collaborate in the planning, preparing, and leading worship for Doxa Kids Summer Camps.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALITIES
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading worship at a local church.
- Proficient Vocalist and Instrumentalist (multi-instrumentalist desired).
- Ability to lead worship confidently in front of large crowds through singing, speaking, exhorting, and reading scripture.
- Ability to plan, prepare, coordinate, and lead a worship service from start to finish.
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create, coordinate, and lead a worship service with a band.
- Ability to train, develop, and lead worship ministry volunteers.
- Have good intuition, be able to think several steps ahead, pay attention to details, and be able to make decisions quickly.
- Experience using DAWs like Ableton or Playback (preferred).
- Must be a self-starter, take initiative, and be able to work independently.
- Values collaboration and works well in a team environment.
- Have a genuine desire to embrace and support Doxa Church’s culture and ministry philosophy.
- Songwriting experience preferred, not essential.
