Job Summary:
The Nursery & Children’s Director role is crucial for fostering a nurturing and spiritually enriching environment for children from K-5th grade, ensuring they are rooted in Christian faith and United Methodist values. The Director is also responsible for the oversight of our Nursery operations on Sundays and special occasions to ensure a safe and caring environment. The Director will develop, coordinate, facilitate, and administer Christian Ed. programs and activities. The main objective is to build a viable and sustainable children's ministry through the cultivation of Christ - centered relationships. The Director will help children grow in their spiritual formation, social formation, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
● Program Development and Implementation:
■ Develop, plan, and provide oversight of all aspects of children's ministry, but not limited to;
■ Children’s Church
■ Nursery Operations
■ Sunday School
■ Vacation Bible School
■ Mid-week Children's ministry
■ Children's Conference Camps
■ Christmas and Easter programs
■ Confirmation Classes
■ Parents Nights Out
■ Any special events
■ Create, adapt, or utilize curriculum that is engaging, age-appropriate, and aligns with United Methodist teachings.
● Leadership and Volunteer Coordination:
○ Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers to assist with the nursery and various children's programs and activities.
○ It is the responsibility of the Director to ensure staffing of the nursery on Sunday mornings, during funerals (if necessary), special church services, and special
events or by means of paid staff and/or volunteers.
○ Provide leadership and guidance to nursery staff and volunteers, ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for children.
● Pastoral Care and Support:
○ Foster meaningful relationships with children and their families, offering spiritual guidance and support.
○ Be a visible and active presence during worship services, children's activities, and church events.
● Administrative Duties:
○ Manage the children's ministry budget, maintaining records of expenses and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
○ Maintain accurate attendance records, registration forms, and other documentation related to children's programs.
● Communication and Collaboration:
○ Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and the congregation about upcoming events, needs, and opportunities within the children's ministry.
○ Collaborate with other church staff and ministry leaders to ensure cohesive and integrated church programming.
Qualifications:
● Education and Experience:
○ Strong commitment to Christian faith and the mission of the United Methodist Church.
○ High School Diploma or GED. Some college hours or Bachelor's degree in Christian Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
○ Previous experience working in children's ministry or a similar setting.
● Skills and Abilities:
○ A high level of enthusiasm and excitement leading and training children in the teachings of the church and the Christian discipline.
○ Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
○ Ability to relate well to children and their families, demonstrating patience, compassion, and creativity.
○ Proficiency in using technology for communication and program management.
● Background Checks:
○ Successful completion of a background check is required.
