Purpose of Role:
The Pastor of Worship & Students is a unique position within Grace City. It requires the giftset of a unique person who is called and can balance and provide leadership to two very important ministries within the church. As a result, this is a full-time position. The Pastor of Worship & Students will work directly with the Lead Pastor and under his direct supervision. As a team, along with other staff and ministry team leaders the Pastor of Worship & Students will lead, equip and build-up the congregation of Grace City to fulfill its mission of “Grow in grace, love like Jesus and go share Him with the world.”
Position Responsibilities:
The Pastor of Worship & Students is a dual role. The importance of each ministry is equally divided. However, the amount of time given to each ministry cannot and is not expected to be divided equally. Majority of time will be given to planning worship services and leading the worship and tech teams of Grace City. Other time will be dedicated to leading, building and supporting the student ministry team leaders, volunteers and students of Grace City. This is accomplished by the following:
Worship Ministry:
- Lead a dynamic, authentic, and engaging worship service.
- Plan, discuss and offer creative insight to upcoming message series with the Lead Pastor.
- Identify, recruit, equip and shepherd all worship and tech team members.
- Provide a weekly rehearsal in preparation for Sunday.
- Create Sunday's power point slides for worship lyrics and message outline.
- Give oversight into the tech needs of the church including the online ministry and needed equipment.
- Work with the staff, ministry team leaders and elders to develop a mission-driven annual plan and budget.
- Maintain personal accountability with the elders.
- Offer care and counseling as needed among the church and community.
Student Ministry:
- Provide a vision, path and process to evangelize and disciple students from 6th to 12th grade into a growing developing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Coordinate directly with the student ministry team volunteers in providing bible studies, fellowships, mission trips and other special student events.
- Enlist, train and provide resources to student ministry team volunteers.
- Gather regularly with the student ministry team for the purpose of delegating responsibilities, evaluating the ministry, making decisions and plans, and developing future leaders – both adults and students.
- Ensure that all student ministry team volunteers have been properly screened and background checked.
- Communicate promptly and effectively with parents about the student ministry and upcoming events.
- Create a welcoming and safe environment for students both on and off campus.
- Passionately pursue the opportunity to speak and build relationships with students, faculty and staff at area schools in partnership with FCA.
