The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Worship Pastor position at The Rock Church.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Worship Ministry or a related field is preferred. However, what one lacks in education may be counterbalanced by years of experience, the anointing of God, and a desire to further biblical education.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in a church or ministry setting.
  • Experience leading others into spontaneous praise and Spirit-inspired worship.
  • Have an active relationship with the Holy Spirit.
  • Experience with Planning Center, ProPresenter, Multitracks, Facebook Live, and familiarity with other worship technologies and recording software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency as a vocalist and musician, with some experience playing guitar.
  • Ability to teach others to play instruments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal, relational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop worship and livestream production volunteers.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and develop a worship band.
  • Ability to create a positive and encouraging team environment.
  • Takes initiative to improve, develop, and grow the worship ministry, creating a generational pipeline of giant killers with the anointing of David.
  • Exemplifies the character of a leader found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–16.
  • Agrees with the church's statement of faith, doctrine, and values as found in the church bylaws.
  • Approaches all things with humility and a teachable spirit.
  • Self-starter who is strongly motivated and passionate about the mission.
  • Exhibits flexibility with time off and office hours.
  • Attentive to and led by the Holy Spirit.
  • Able to see the potential in the next generation and create opportunities for the church of tomorrow to become the church of today.
  • Enjoys being part of the spiritual formation of young people.

Weekly Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead Sunday morning worship and practices; manage media, livestream, and sound teams.
  • Coordinate a monthly worship night during the week or on weekends.
  • Teach guitar, piano, and/or voice while developing a worship academy for beginners, both in person and online.
  • Develop a background vocal team consisting of multiple generations.
  • Develop quarterly worship nights.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming for outreach events.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor on new songs.
  • Help, assist, and supervise related areas such as stage maintenance projects and all church events as needed in the community, practicing servant leadership.

Compensation: $49,000–$52,000

Up to a 25-hour work week, including Sundays
