About The Rock Church

The Rock Church is a Spirit-filled, non-denominational church in Danville, Illinois, with a passion for God’s presence, His Word, and people. The church believes the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active today and desires worship to create space for people to encounter God while remaining firmly rooted in Scripture.

The Rock Church’s mission is to build a vibrant family of hope-filled believers who partner with the Holy Spirit to invite people into a “Journey into God’s Greatness.” With approximately 100 people gathering each week, the church is especially passionate about building a generational pipeline of children, youth, and adults who know God and make Him known.

The Opportunity

The Rock Church is seeking a Worship Leader to lead, develop, and strengthen its worship ministry. This person will work closely with the Senior Pastor, staff, musicians, and volunteers to cultivate worship that is joyful, Spirit-led, biblically grounded, and attentive to what God is doing in the room.

Beyond leading worship, this role is about developing people. The Worship Leader will invest in musicians and vocalists, raise up future worship leaders, and help create opportunities for children and youth to grow in their musical gifts and experience meaningful participation in worship ministry.

Primary Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

• Lead Sunday worship and help cultivate an environment of joyful, Spirit-led praise and worship.
• Select and prepare songs in collaboration with the Senior Pastor, remaining attentive to both planned service direction and spontaneous moments of worship.
• Lead rehearsals and provide clear musical and spiritual direction to the worship team.
• Help oversee worship elements for monthly worship nights, quarterly special events, and churchwide gatherings.
• Prepare worship content for midweek ministry needs as appropriate.

Team & Next-Generation Development

• Recruit, develop, encourage, and schedule musicians, vocalists, worship leaders, and production volunteers.
• Build depth within the worship ministry so leadership can be shared among multiple capable leaders.
• Develop a multigenerational vocal and worship team, including intentional opportunities for youth involvement.
• Help equip developing musicians through coaching and instruction in areas such as guitar, piano, and voice.
• Explore opportunities to develop a worship training environment or “school of worship” for emerging musicians and leaders.
• Collaborate with children’s and youth ministries on special worship and musical opportunities.

Production & Ministry Collaboration

• Coordinate effectively with sound, media, livestream, and ProPresenter volunteers to support cohesive worship services.
• Utilize tools such as Planning Center, ProPresenter, MultiTracks, livestream platforms, and other worship technologies.
• Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, staff, and volunteers with humility, flexibility, and a teachable spirit.
• Participate with an “all hands on deck” approach during significant churchwide events.
• Be open to occasional preaching or teaching opportunities as gifting and ministry needs align.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a spiritually mature worshiper who combines musical ability with a genuine desire to develop people and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

• A growing relationship with Jesus and demonstrated life of worship, humility, and biblical character.
• Personal experience with the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit and theological alignment with The Rock Church’s Spirit-filled ministry philosophy.
• Full alignment with the church’s doctrine, mission,(see below), bylaws, and biblical convictions, including its beliefs regarding marriage and women serving in ministry.
• Proficiency as a vocalist and musician, with strong guitar ability particularly valued.
• Experience leading others in both planned and spontaneous Spirit-led worship.
• At least two years of relevant worship or ministry leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to lead, develop, and encourage musicians and volunteers across generations.
• Familiarity with Planning Center, ProPresenter, MultiTracks, livestreaming, and related worship technology.
• An associate degree in Worship Ministry, Music, or a related field is preferred but not required; relevant experience is highly valued.

Schedule, Compensation & Benefits

The Rock Church is open to two potential structures for this position:

• Unique Salary Ministry Role: Approximately 22 hours per week, including Sundays. This means you have room to grow and expand hours as the church grows, or develop another income stream. 
• This compensation package starting is around $48,000 ($42.00 an hour)
• The Total package includes: 
• paid vacation, 
• paid time off for sanctioned overtime, 
• half of the employee’s sanctioned monthly health insurance cost,
• a Christmas bonus, 
• a housing allowance for eligible candidates through commissioning as a church worship leader which greatly reduces taxes.

• Part-Time / Contract Role: Approximately 10 hours per week focused primarily on worship leadership and rehearsal, compensated at $35 per hour.

The specific structure will be determined based on the experience, availability, and mutual fit of the selected candidate.
