Summary of “big” events throughout the calendar year
January – For the “Week of Prayer” that happens annually in January, the WA Pastor will oversee the scheduling of teams for each night of prayer. This includes musicians, vocalists, sound, lighting & computer teams. Speakers for each night may request specific songs to align with their devo themes one week prior.
Easter weekend (March/April) – On Easter weekend, the WA Pastor will be responsible for planning and executing 2 Reflections services, which is a somber 1-hour service on Good Friday. This includes worship music, special presentations (drama, solo songs, dance, etc.) & Communion, along with a message from the lead pastor. Every element coincides with the crucifixion of Jesus.
On the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter, the WA Pastor will schedule a tech team to assist with the annual Easter Egg Event, hosted by Brighton Kids. This includes sound, lighting & computer. Following the Easter Egg Event, the WA Pastor will be responsible for resetting the platform in preparation for Easter Sunday service.
April/May – Hope for the Journey is a video-based training event for foster/kinship/adoptive parents and social workers hosted by Heart’s CRI at Brighton AG. During this event, the WA Pastor is responsible for the tech side, which includes the computer (with the video content that is played), lighting & sound. This event is from 9am to 6pm on a Friday.
June – During the last week of June, the WA Pastor is responsible for the tech side of VBS openings/closings. These are the large gatherings that happen at the beginning and end of the VBS week in the sanctuary. Elements involved are making sure there are sound, lighting & computer techs in place for each day/session. This event is Monday-Thursday the last week of June each year.
December – (1st weekend) The WA Pastor is responsible for the entertainment at the entrance of the Living Christmas Story (LCS) drive-through annual celebration. This event includes a rotating schedule each evening that includes: carolers, dancers, solo vocal work, children magician, etc. using individuals from the WA team.
Heart’s CRI Christmas Party (closing) – Scheduled on a Saturday in December, the Heart’s CRI Christmas party is a celebration for foster students. At this event, lunch is provided along with games, crafts, and Christmas gifts that are purchased by the congregants of Brighton AG and local businesses. The WA Pastor is responsible for the closing element, which is about 20-25 minutes in length. This element can be made up of sing-alongs (YouTube), dance-alongs, games, a visit from Santa, video content, etc. We have learned that it is best to keep the kids at their seats with team leaders to maximize crowd control at this event.
Christmas Eve – You are responsible to plan and execute Christmas Eve services annually. This includes, but is not limited to: setting the theme, overseeing décor, planning service elements (music, drama, dance, candles, etc.) In early October, bring your theme ideas to Rhonda Trask. After a theme is selected, the WA Pastor is responsible to create paper programs for those services, ensure that greeters are scheduled to hand out programs/candles at both entrances and have team member(s) create receptacles for candles as congregants/attendees exit.
Funerals/weddings – In the event of funerals/weddings, the WA Pastor is responsible to work with the lead pastor/those officiating to help design the flow of service (in the case of funerals) and staff tech positions as needed (sound, lighting, computer), as well as participate in musical elements as needed. This could include band, vocalists, etc.
