About Honor Church

Honor Church is a growing, Spirit-filled, Bible-believing church plant located in the heart of Lake Mary, Florida, just north of Orlando.

Our mission is simple: Reach the Lost. Restore the Broken. Reveal the Father.

We believe the local church should be a place where people encounter the presence of God, experience authentic Christian community, grow in their understanding of Scripture, and discover their calling to serve Jesus Christ.

We are passionate about verse-by-verse biblical preaching, Christ-centered worship, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, prayer, discipleship, and reaching our community with the Gospel.

Our worship services combine a deep reverence for the Word of God with an expectation that the Holy Spirit is actively working among His people. We celebrate Communion every Sunday, make room for prayer and personal ministry, and believe worship should engage both the heart and the mind.

We appreciate the musical excellence, passionate congregational engagement, and intentional worship flow associated with Vertical Church worship. We love powerful contemporary worship songs, timeless hymns, fresh arrangements of older music, and new songs that help our congregation proclaim biblical truth.

We're not interested in putting on a concert. We want to lead people in genuine worship of Jesus Christ.

As a church plant, we're building something from the ground up. Our team is made up of committed (and talented) volunteers who love Jesus, love the local church, and are excited about what God is doing in our community.

We're looking for a Worship Leader who wants to grow with us.

Position Overview

Honor Church is seeking a spiritually mature, musically gifted, and dependable Worship Leader to lead our congregation in Christ-centered worship each Sunday.

This is a part-time, weekly stipend position designed for someone who loves worship ministry and wants to invest in a growing local church.

Our ideal candidate is a capable lead vocalist who can confidently lead a congregation, work collaboratively with a talented team of volunteer musicians, and cultivate an atmosphere of authentic, Spirit-led worship.

Proficiency in acoustic guitar or keyboard is strongly preferred but not required.

We welcome applicants who have never held an official Worship Leader position. Our Lead Pastor is committed to personally coaching, mentoring, and developing the right candidate if needed.

We're more interested in your character, calling, musical ability, and willingness to grow than the number of years on your résumé.

Primary Responsibilities:

Sunday Worship Leadership

  • Lead congregational worship during our Sunday morning services at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
  • Prepare and lead worship sets that are biblically sound, musically engaging, and appropriate for our congregation.
  • Lead with confidence, humility, authenticity, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor to coordinate worship, prayer, Communion, and ministry moments.
  • Help create a worship environment that encourages congregational participation rather than passive observation.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for Sunday soundchecks, rehearsals, and services.

Worship Team Leadership

  • Lead a weekly rehearsal (at a time of your choosing) with our existing team of committed and talented volunteer musicians.
  • Communicate song selections, arrangements, keys, and rehearsal expectations in advance.
  • Help volunteer musicians grow in confidence, musicianship, teamwork, and spiritual maturity.
  • Foster a healthy team culture characterized by encouragement, accountability, excellence, and genuine relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with instrumentalists, vocalists, and production volunteers.
  • Assist in identifying and developing future worship team members as the church grows.

Musical Preparation and Development

  • Select worship songs.
  • Introduce new music thoughtfully while retaining familiar songs that help our congregation participate confidently.
  • Prepare appropriate arrangements, transitions, and musical dynamics.
  • Pursue musical excellence without allowing performance to become the focus of worship.
  • Continue developing personally as a vocalist, musician, and worship leader.

What We're Looking For

Spiritual Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrates a consistent Christian testimony.
  • Affirms the authority of Scripture, salvation through Jesus Christ, and the essential doctrines of the Christian faith.
  • Is in agreement with the biblical convictions and ministry philosophy of Honor Church.
  • Values personal prayer, holiness, discipleship, and involvement in the local church.
  • Demonstrates humility, teachability, integrity, and a servant's heart.
  • Understands that worship leadership is first a spiritual responsibility and then a musical one.

Musical Qualifications

  • Must be a capable vocalist with the ability to sing accurately, confidently, and expressively.
  • Must be able to lead congregational singing rather than simply perform songs.
  • Proficiency in acoustic guitar or keyboard is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a live band and volunteer musicians.
  • Ability to learn new songs and prepare independently.
  • Comfortable receiving coaching.

Leadership Qualifications

  • Dependable, punctual, prepared, and committed.
  • Comfortable leading and encouraging a team of volunteers.
  • Able to receive direction and collaborate closely with the Lead Pastor.
  • Willing to grow personally, spiritually, and musically.
  • Able to lead with confidence without demanding the spotlight.
  • Interested in building relationships and becoming an active part of the Honor Church family.

Our Worship Philosophy

At Honor Church, we believe worship is a response to who God is and what He has done through Jesus Christ. We want our worship to be biblically grounded, spiritually alive, musically excellent, and genuinely congregational.

We appreciate the worship style and flow as written in the book “Vertical Church,” including strong musical arrangements, dynamic transitions, passionate singing, and moments of reverence and reflection.

We believe the Holy Spirit is welcome and active in our gatherings. We value the freedom to respond to His leading while maintaining biblical order, pastoral oversight, and theological clarity.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday and consider Communion a meaningful part of our corporate worship.

We love new songs. We love old songs. We love hymns. We love contemporary worship.

We aren't committed to a particular decade of music. We're committed to worshiping Jesus with songs that are true, meaningful, and singable.

We want musical excellence without entertainment, spiritual passion without manipulation, and freedom in worship without confusion.

Experience and Development

Previous experience as a Worship Leader is not required.

If you are a gifted vocalist who has served on a worship team, demonstrated leadership potential, and sensed a calling to lead others in worship, we would love to hear from you.

Our Lead Pastor will work directly with the Worship Leader to provide coaching, feedback, spiritual encouragement, and practical leadership development as needed.

This is an opportunity to grow into a ministry role while helping shape the worship culture of a developing church.

Compensation and Commitment

This is a part-time ministry position compensated through a weekly stipend.

The position includes leading our Sunday morning worship services, conducting a weekly team rehearsal, preparing music, and communicating with the worship team throughout the week as needed.

Specific stipend details, rehearsal scheduling, and additional expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Because Honor Church is a church plant, we are looking for someone who understands the unique opportunities and responsibilities of serving in a growing ministry.

We may not have the resources of a large established church, but we have a committed team, a clear vision, and a genuine desire to invest in the person God brings to serve alongside us.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the following:

1. Résumé

Please include your ministry involvement, musical background, church experience, and any relevant leadership or volunteer experience.

2. Ministry References

We would appreciate references from the following individuals, if available:

  • A Worship Pastor or Worship Leader under whom you have previously served.
  • A fellow worship team member with whom you have served.
  • Your current or most recent local church pastor.

We understand that not every candidate will have all three references, particularly those who are newer to worship ministry.

3. Video of Your Worship Leadership

Please provide one or more video links demonstrating your vocal ability and worship leadership potential.

These may include recordings of you leading worship during a church service, participating in a worship gathering, or simply singing and playing worship music at home in front of a camera.

Professional recordings are not necessary. A simple phone video is perfectly acceptable.

We want to hear your voice, observe your musical ability, and get a sense of how you lead worship.

4. Brief Personal Introduction

Tell us a little about yourself, your relationship with Jesus, your involvement in the local church, and why you're interested in serving at Honor Church.

Come Build With Us

Honor Church is still in the early chapters of its story.

We're looking for someone who sees the opportunity in helping build a healthy, thriving worship ministry and who genuinely loves the people they lead.

You don't have to be a professional musician. You don't have to have a decade of experience. You don't have to have everything figured out.

You do need to love Jesus, be able to sing, demonstrate musical competence, and have a heart to serve His Church.

If you're looking for a place to grow, serve, lead, and help build something that matters for eternity, we'd love to meet you.
