Executive Pastor of Ministries
Strong Tower Church – Fredericksburg, Virginia
Position Title: Executive Pastor of Ministries
Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Position Summary
The Executive Pastor of Ministries at Strong Tower Church is responsible for the oversight, execution, and facilitation of connection-driven ministries, ensuring individuals move effectively from first contact to active discipleship and service. This role provides strategic and pastoral leadership across ministries that drive engagement, assimilation, volunteer development, and spiritual growth.
The Executive Pastor of Ministries also serves in a visible platform leadership role, supporting service flow, congregation communication, and teaching continuity when the Senior Pastor is unavailable.
Core Ministry Oversight Areas
Small Groups (iGroups)
Develop and oversee the small group strategy of Strong Tower Church
Recruit, train, and support group leaders
Ensure groups foster connection, discipleship, and spiritual growth
Volunteer Teams (iTeam)
Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention
Develop leadership pipelines and team structures
Cultivate a healthy, engaged volunteer culture
First Touch Ministries
Oversee all guest-facing environments and first impressions
Ensure welcoming, hospitable, and well-organized guest experiences
Monitor and improve guest follow-up systems
New Member Assimilation
Oversee Growth Track and membership processes
Ensure clear next steps from guest to member to ministry involvement
Track engagement and participation metrics
Kids and Teen Ministries (Tower Kids & Tower Youth)
Provide leadership and support to children’s and youth ministry teams
Ensure ministries are safe, engaging, mission-aligned, and well-staffed
Partner with ministry leaders to develop volunteers and align curriculum
Platform, Communication & Teaching Responsibilities
Serve as the primary staff leader responsible for pre-service announcements, service communication, and housekeeping items prior to the Senior Pastor taking the stage
Communicate ministry updates, logistical information, and next steps clearly and effectively to the congregation
Collaborate with worship, production, and pastoral teams to ensure smooth service flow and transitions
When designated, serve as the primary Sunday communicator during times when the Senior Pastor is out of town or unavailable
Ensure continuity of vision, leadership, and biblical teaching from the platform in the Senior Pastor’s absence
Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities
Provide vision, coaching, and accountability to ministry leaders and teams
Develop systems, processes, and best practices to support ministry excellence
Collaborate closely with the Senior Pastor and staff to ensure alignment with the mission and vision of Strong Tower Church
Monitor ministry health, effectiveness, and engagement
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and leadership development
Additional responsibilities may be added as the role evolves
Work Schedule & Expectations
Work Week: Sunday through Thursday
Office Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday Requirements
Attendance at all Sunday services
Includes pre-service preparation and post-service meetings or activities
Additional Time Commitments
Attendance required at select Saturday events and activities (e.g., prayer gatherings, Growth Track, outreach events)
Schedule Flexibility
Office schedule may change as needed to meet ministry and church needs
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Minimum of 5 years of ministry leadership experience, preferably in a multi-ministry or multi-department church environment
Demonstrated experience leading and overseeing volunteer-driven ministries
Proven ability to develop and implement systems for connection, assimilation, and discipleship
Prior experience providing platform leadership and teaching or preaching when needed
Experience teaching or preaching in a Sunday service or comparable setting
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead strategically while maintaining a pastoral, servant-leader heart
Comfortable collaborating with senior leadership
Team-oriented, adaptable, and solutions-focused
Alignment with the mission, vision, values, and doctrinal beliefs of Strong Tower Church
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range $100,000 - $115,000 (commensurate with experience)
