Job Description

OVERVIEW: The Worship Leader is a part-time position which can be either 15 hours per week or 30 hours per week, pay commiserate with number of hours per week, as determined by the candidate’s availability, abilities, interests, and calling. This person will initially work very closely with the pastor in planning and leading the congregation in worship that is primarily modern/contemporary in nature but also blends well-known hymns.

QUALIFICATIONS: · Clear Christian testimony and demonstrate a life of following Jesus · Experience planning and leading worship services · A heart for Christ-centered ministry and for people · Resonates with Calvary’s Guiding Ministry Principles and fully supports Calvary’s unique identity and mission · A strong sense of calling to Calvary in response to God’s leadership to help the pastor lead the church into a new era of life and ministry 

ABILITIES REQUIRED: · Can proficiently play an instrument in the worship band (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or keyboard) · Quality singing voice that complements modern worship music stylings · Engaging and natural stage presence · Skilled in vocal and worship band direction · Experienced in the use of technology in worship such as worship software (Planning Center Online and ProPresenter), sound systems, video projection, cameras/lighting, and live-streaming · Excellent relational skills · Person who strives for excellence

RESPONSIBLITLIES: If 15 hours per week, the worship leader will be responsible for: · Assisting the pastor in developing a weekly worship service · Leading the congregation once weekly in worship · Leading weekly worship team rehearsals (band and vocals) · Continuing to develop the worship team · Coordinating worship team staff and volunteers · Coordinating use of worship technologies · Utilizing the church’s social media presence · Engaging in the body of the church as an active member by joining a Bible study class, seeking to make connections with members beyond the worship team, and being involved in missions and ministry opportunities · Assisting the pastor and deacons with Pastoral Care by serving on-call approximately one weekend per month and up to four weeks per year as coordinated by the pastor. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: If 30 hours per week, various other dynamic ministry leadership and/or administration opportunities exist based on the candidate’s availability, abilities, interests, and calling.  These opportunities can be discussed during the interview with the pastor.

COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with the number of hours in the terms of call. Depending on qualifications and abilities, 15-hour per week salary will be up to $22,000 annually; 30-hour per week will be up to $44,000 annually. Includes two weeks paid-time-off annually.
