Worship Pastor

Overview

Hope Bible Chapel is seeking a Worship Pastor who is first and foremost a shepherd, someone with a deep love for Jesus and a heart to lead others into authentic, Spirit-led worship. This role is not about performance, but about cultivating environments where people can encounter God in a real and meaningful way.

We are looking for a leader who is musically gifted, spiritually discerning, and passionate about building and discipling a healthy worship, creative, and production team.

About Hope Bible Chapel

Hope Bible Chapel is a growing, gospel-centered, non-denominational church committed to helping people know Jesus, grow in their faith, and make disciples. Since launching a year and a half ago, God has been faithfully building a vibrant church community marked by biblical teaching, authentic worship, meaningful relationships, and intentional discipleship. As a mobile church with a strong volunteer culture, we are passionate about building healthy, sustainable ministries that support the mission of making disciples.

Our church is located in Whitehall, Michigan, along the beautiful shores of White Lake and just miles from Lake Michigan, a community known for its small-town charm, outdoor recreation, and exceptional quality of life. This is a unique opportunity to serve in a growing church while living in one of West Michigan’s most scenic and family-friendly areas.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Worship Gatherings

• Plan and lead Christ-centered, Spirit-led worship experiences each Sunday as well as other nights of worship throughout the year
• Partner with the Lead Pastor to shape service flow and remain sensitive to how God is moving
• Create space for meaningful, authentic worship, not driven by production, but by presence
• Discern and recognize what our people need the most given our cultural context
• Create worship sets primarily with contemporary worship music as well as remakes of classic hymns and anthems 

2. Shepherd the Worship & Production Teams

• Recruit, develop, and disciple musicians, vocalists, and tech team members
• Provide leadership and oversight for sound, lighting, and presentation (lyrics/slides)
• Cultivate a culture of humility, unity, and spiritual growth across all teams
• Provide ongoing training both musically and technically

3. Service Production & Creative Planning

• Oversee the preparation and execution of lyrics and service slides
• Ensure excellence and clarity in sound, lighting, and overall service experience
• Help develop and implement creative elements that enhance worship gatherings, but don’t distract people from worshiping God
• Work collaboratively to create cohesive, distraction-free services that support the teaching and worship moments

4. Build a Healthy Worship Culture

• Lead with a “heart over hype” philosophy
• Foster an environment where team members are growing spiritually, not just in skill
• Discern and respond to moments where the Holy Spirit is leading in a unique way

5. Ministry Alignment

• Fully align with the vision, values, practice, and doctrine of Hope Bible Chapel
• Collaborate with church leadership to support the overall mission of the church

6. Additional Ministry Responsibilities

• Take on additional responsibilities within the church based on gifting, calling, and church needs
• Contribute to the broader life and ministry of the church beyond the worship role

Qualifications

• A clear and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• A strong pastoral heart with a desire to shepherd people, not just lead music
• At least 3 years of experience leading a thriving worship ministry
• Demonstrated musical proficiency (vocally and/or instrumentally)
• Experience leading or working with production teams (sound, lighting, presentation software)
• Ability to lead with sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
• A commitment to being actively involved in the life of the church, including participation in a small group
