Parkside Church, in the Southwest Metro area of the Twin Cities, is in search of a Director of NextGen Ministries. Recent growth and renovated facilities lead us to see who might join our team to help fulfill God’s mission at Parkside. This new position will oversee and lead all ministries from cradle to college. Their goal is to establish ministries to children and students as one strategic, continuous ministry that maximizes the impact the church can have before adulthood. The focus will be to minister to the whole family, empowering parents and mentors to better disciple their children to maturity in faith. The person in this position will oversee and coordinate the efforts of a combination of volunteers, interns, and paid part-time stipend staff who will conduct the various NextGen ministries. We want to seize this opportunity in transition to develop a staff position that recruits and equips the congregation rather than simply minister to them.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide flourishing, continuous ministries that lead young people into a deep and meaningful relationship with Christ that will last for a lifetime.
- Establish deep networks and relationships in the church and community
- Leverage those relationships and networks for the purpose of providing leaders and others to serve in NextGen ministries and programs.
- Recruit, equip and engage volunteers and develop strong leaders
- Empower parents in laying a foundation of faith
- Collaborating with church senior leadership to integrate our vision for disciple-making into NextGen ministries so that we prepare our young people to be disciples who make disciples.
Skills and characteristics you need to have:
- An authentic and vital relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior with observable fruits of the spirit demonstrated in this person’s life.
- Demonstrated passion for children’s and/or student’s ministries.
- Alignment with Parkside vision as it relates to church staff focusing on ‘equipping the saints’ for ministry as opposed to conducting all the ministries themselves.
- Alignment with Parkside vision as it relates to emerging Disciple Making Movement (DMM) initiatives and a commitment to integrate that into the NextGen ministry programs.
- Interpersonal and organizational leadership skills necessary to recruit and equip the volunteers, interns, and paid part-time stipend staff necessary to conduct the various NextGen ministries.
- Teachability will be paramount since it is unlikely that a candidate will have expertise and training in both children’s and student’s ministry.
- Education that includes a bachelor’s degree (or an approved training program) in an area relevant to this position. This person must be licensed for ministry or be willing to pursue licensure with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Experience in paid youth ministries leadership in a church comparable to Parkside will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience that includes 2-3 years of volunteer or paid service in some area of children’s and/or student’s ministries in a church comparable to Parkside.
