Church Schoolteacher

Seeking a church schoolteacher for a vibrant Sunday school program in Bronxville, NY. The teacher will be working under the guidance of our Director and Associate Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry. Consistent with state law, a background check will be required as a condition of hire.

Location: Bronxville, NY (on-site at the Church)

Schedule: 2 scheduled hours a week from 9:30am-11:30am (up to 20-25 Sundays a year), plus annual training

Pay: $50/hour

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with elementary-aged kids, preferably in a classroom or camp setting.
• Interest in arts and crafts and telling stories to kids.
• Experience or interest in Godly Play (Montessori-based approach to religious education) is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience, reliability and a passion for working with children.

Responsibilities include the following:

• Serving as lead teacher for our weekly 3rd grade church school class, supported by a volunteer assistant each week.
• Review provided lesson plans, arts and crafts and other activities planned for the day ahead of church school.
• Communicating with Director, Associate Director, volunteers and parents regarding program updates and otherwise as needed.
• Attend mandatory training meetings held each year.
• Other duties as assigned.
