Principle Responsibility: The primary responsibility of the senior pastor is to lead the church in fulfilling its purpose: “To honor God by Helping More People Become Fully Devoted Followers of Christ.”
General Responsibilities: The core responsibilities of the Senior Pastor should be the teaching and preaching of God’s Word, supervision of staff, and overseeing the ministries of the church. He shall be an ordained minister, a man of true Christian experience, and demonstrate godly character. He shall qualify for his office according to the Biblical qualifications of I Timothy
3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Serve on the Elder board, being a voting member except on the issues of the Senior Pastor’s
salary or dismissal
2. Cast and live out God’s vision for the congregation
3. Be faithful in prayer for the congregation and community
4. Proclaim clearly the truth of God’s Word and protect the church from false teaching
5. Lead the staff, discern their giftedness, encourage, and equip them to do ministry well
6. Hold leaders of ministry teams accountable for their responsibilities
7. Be involved in promoting financial stewardship in the church
8. Take part with the elders in the preparation of the annual budget
9. Set a godly example in sharing the gospel to people in his relational world
10. Be a member of or lead a Life group
11. Provide pastoral counseling to those in need
12. Lead and regularly preach in worship services
13. Conduct monthly Communion and Baptismal services as needed
14. Conduct Marriage ceremonies and Funeral services as needed
15. Provide and facilitate a home or hospital visit for those in need
