KIDS DIRECTOR

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Life Kids Director will serve as the primary administrator for Life Kids (6mo - 5th grade) and all related children’s ministries. They will lead the spiritual development of our children and ministry volunteers through discipleship, teaching, training and equipping. The Life Kids Director is important to the church because they shape the spiritual foundation of both children and families. Early spiritual formation has lifelong impact, which directly affects the church’s present health and future vitality.
OBJECTIVES
Kids Discipleship
- Oversee all aspects of Life Kids Discipleship (6mo - 5th grade).
- Provide engaging, discipleship-focused environments for kids.
- Plan, organize, resource and implement Grow Curriculum for Life Kids programming and discipleship during worship gatherings.
- Schedule and oversee volunteers who will provide childcare for staff-led church events and Life Journey programming throughout the year.
- Lead the process of planning Child Dedications by working with staff and families directly.
Administrative Oversight
- Maintain accurate records in our church database for all children and families, including contact information, background checks, communication records, and budget expenditures.
- Oversee the development of materials and forms needed for Life Kids, including Volunteer Handbooks, Training Material, etc.
- Maintain an organized system of supplies, resources, and craft elements.
- Send regular updates to parents about what is happening in the ministry with tools parents can use for discipleship at home.
Program Management
- Be the point person for conversations with families regarding Life Kids programming.
- With the help of volunteers, prepare each Life Kids room with curriculum and supplies for the appropriate age group while acknowledging shared spaces.
- Work with staff to implement special events that involve families (Be the Spark, Child Dedication, New Life Sunday, etc).
- Periodically, be a visible presence on stage as needed to strategically highlight Life Kids.
Volunteer Recruitment & Equipping
- Recruit, screen, train, and evaluate volunteers.
- Provide ongoing coaching, spiritual formation, and leadership development of volunteers.
- Foster a healthy team culture rooted in trust, prayer, emotional intelligence, and servant leadership.
- Track recruitment activities and outcomes. Provide regular progress reports regarding volunteer recruitment efforts.
Regular Rhythms
- Attend weekly staff meetings for prayer and business.
- Attend one Worship Gathering on Sunday mornings at least two Sundays per month.
- Work with the staff to identify key initiatives through a collaborative goal-setting process; and evaluate each goal monthly.
- Be present and work with the staff to execute seasonal events such as: Annual Celebration, Easter, New Life Sunday(s), Child Dedication, and Christmas.
Standard Requirements
- 20 hours per week
- Active Partner of Life Canton who commits to The Code
- Able to work nights and weekends
- Reports to the Associate Pastor

- Sense of a calling to Children’s Ministry with the ability to teach biblical truth creatively in age-appropriate, engaging ways.
- Gifts in administrative oversight able to strategically implement weekly and seasonal ministry curriculum, manage child attendance tracking systems, maintain stocked supplies, and prepare classrooms.
- Management of classrooms, volunteers, and children appropriate to age and attention span.
- Able to effectively respond to emotional or behavioral challenges with wisdom and grace.
- Skills to build a culture where volunteers feel valued, supported, and spiritually nurtured.
- Creativity to develop a flexible, sustainable process to schedule volunteers proactively.
- Affirm the role of parents as the primary spiritual disciplers of children.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 3-5 years previous experience in kids ministry or a related field.
- Previous experience with volunteer recruitment, equipping, and scheduling.
- Nonprofit and volunteer experience preferred.
