Overview
The Youth Worship Leader is responsible for leading and overseeing the worship ministry within the youth department, including weekly worship services, camps, retreats, and special programs. This role includes managing and developing the Audio, Visual, and Lighting (AVL) production, ensuring a high-quality worship experience. The Youth Worship Leader is committed to recruiting, mentoring, and training young musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers, fostering an environment where students can grow in their musical and spiritual gifts. As a licensed minister, this individual will also provide pastoral care, minister God’s Word, administer the sacraments, and perform sacerdotal functions. This position reports directly to the Youth Pastor.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee worship services for youth gatherings, camps, retreats, and special events.
- Recruit, train, and mentor young musicians, vocalists, and AVL team members, fostering a culture of discipleship and growth.
- Plan and coordinate worship sets, ensuring biblically sound and engaging worship experiences.
- Manage AVL production, ensuring excellence in sound, lighting, and media for all youth services and events.
- Oversee scheduling of worship team members and volunteers, creating lesson plans and development opportunities.
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to youth involved in the worship ministry.
- Administer sacraments, preach or teach as needed, and fulfill other ministerial duties.
- Collaborate with the Youth Pastor and other ministry leaders to align worship experiences with the overall vision of the youth ministry.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Youth Pastor.
Experience & Qualifications
- A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to biblical teaching and discipleship.
- Experience leading worship in a church or ministry setting, preferably in a youth ministry context.
- Proficiency in playing an instrument (guitar, piano, etc.) and vocal leadership.
- Knowledge and experience with AVL technology, including sound systems, lighting, and media presentation software.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to mentor and develop young musicians and volunteers.
- Licensed or ordained minister (or willingness to pursue licensing/ordination).
- Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and ministry teams.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for engaging youth through worship and the creative arts.
