About First Baptist Church Pittsburg Texas

First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, Texas is an established SBC congregation averaging approximately 275 attendees in its two Sunday morning services. We are theologically conservative, adhering to the BF&M 2000, and affiliating with both the SBTC and BGCT.

For years our youth program has been one of the most effective and appreciated ministries of our church. With its own building, affectionately referred to as ‘The Pitt,’ and with a great amount of financial and volunteer support, our youth ministry is truly a blessing to the students in our church and community.

Our youth group currently averages approximately 60 students on Wednesday evenings and a little less than half that on Sunday mornings. The students in our church need a minister with clarity and maturity in the Gospel. This will require someone who loves Jesus and is willing to love them as well. It will also require someone who is willing to put down roots in our community and invest in them and their families for years to come.

Pittsburg is the county seat of Camp County in east Texas. In many ways, it is a typical small town, with a population of less than five thousand. And for those of us who live here, that is part of its charm.

The pace is slow, the schools are great, and the people are friendly. We still have parades on Main Street, still cheer on the Pirates at Friday night football games, and still talk with our neighbors in the local grocery store.

And though small-town-living may not be your normal pace of life, Pittsburg is a great place to raise a family. Located an hour north of Tyler and two hours east of Dallas, it is ideally situated out of the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to take advantage of big city amenities.

Yes, we are a small town, but we have a lot of heart. So, if God is leading you to Pittsburg, it’s because He wants you to be part of something meaningful.
