Milford Bible Church, founded in 1961, is located on fifteen acres in the northeastern corner of Pennsylvania near the Delaware River, bordering New Jersey and New York. The church has had an average attendance of 250 drawn from a region that includes the small PA towns of Milford, Matamoras, and Shohola, Port Jervis, NY, Montague, NJ and beyond. These rural communities are approximately a ninety-minute drive from New York City and a one-hour drive from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
The region comprises residential, commercial, light industrial, and various vacation resort areas. Although still considered rural, Pike County PA has a population of nearly 56,000 and a median household income of approximately $60,000.
MBC lovingly serves our neighbors by offering them the hope and peace only found in Jesus Christ. Our mission is helping believers glorify God through expositional preaching, intentional discipleship, meaningful fellowship, and compassionate outreach. Our vision is to be a vibrant, regional church devoted to Christ, each other, and our community, readily equipped with the love of Christ that powerfully transforms lives.
Missions, both at home and abroad, is a priority for MBC and we feel strongly that the Lord has blessed us due to this commitment. Missions support currently accounts for 17% of our budget with the long term goal of increasing that number to 25%. We currently support 20 missionaries, including several MBC members, as well as 5 mission organizations. MBC holds an annual weekend-long missions conference. We host visiting missionaries during this conference and throughout the year.
Ministries include the Sunday morning worship service with ASL interpretation, Children's Worship, Children's and Adult Sunday School, Wednesday prayer meeting, Small Groups, Men's and Women's Bible studies, Book of the Month, Sermon Prep Class, Youth Groups, College and Career group, Word of Life Clubs, Senior Ministry, a Scripture Memory Program, and various conferences.
Outreach programs include VBS, the Ladies' Christmas Tea, MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers), GriefShare, Christianity Explored, Walk Through Christmas Living Nativity, Men’s Breakfast, and the Men’s Game Night/Women’s Night Out.
The present church building was completed in 2003 and fully paid off in 2018. The sanctuary, including the main floor and balcony, seats up to 800 people. There are twenty Sunday School and Christian Education rooms, as well as a church library, two nurseries with a fenced children's playground area, a youth room, three pastors' studies, a modern church office, and a choir room. Our full-size gymnasium provides ample space for youth and adult recreation, as well as social and outreach ministries. A commercial kitchen facility is designed to accommodate large dinners and receptions.
MBC also utilizes the campus to engage in “good neighbor” activities by being the host site for such things as Red Cross Blood Drives, Delaware Valley School District football team ceremonies, Pike County Commissioner’s “Reality Tour” drug awareness program, and acting as a local polling site for elections.
