About Reston Community Church

Aspirational Hope

We exist to make and mature disciples of Jesus by declaring and displaying the gospel.

We aspire…

  • To be an authentic, gospel-centered Christian community reflecting the image of Jesus in northern Virginia – preaching the gospel, training disciples, and providing practical expressions of love and support in the communities where we live.
  • To be Gospel-centered and Gospel-shaped people.
  • To faithfully meet for weekly gatherings that include vibrant worship (including original worship songs), the preaching of the gospel, Biblical instruction that calls believers to maturity, confession, communion, giving, and prayer for partner ministries.
  • To support families, parents, children and individuals as they seek to grow and serve Christ in all aspects of life.
  • To provide rich opportunities for ongoing discipleship, equipping the saints for works of ministry (Ephesians 4:12) through adult classes, Community Groups, and specialized ministries.
  • To serve and be a blessing to the neighborhoods and communities where God has placed us, especially those on the margins.

What We Believe

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. We recognize the Bible as the inspired Word of God, our ultimate authority.

Our story begins with Adam and Eve, created in God's image for fellowship and purpose, yet their disobedience introduced sin and death to humanity. But through Jesus Christ, fully divine and fully human, we find redemption. His sacrificial death and victorious resurrection offer salvation to all who believe.

The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, and empowers us, uniting believers in the body of Christ—the Church. Through baptism and the Lord's Supper, we tangibly express our faith and nourish our spiritual journey.

Our faith calls us to love God and others sacrificially, serving with compassion and seeking justice. Empowered by the Spirit, we bear witness to the gospel, making disciples of all nations.

We eagerly await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, our blessed hope, motivating us to live godly lives. We affirm the call to repentance and faith, knowing that God will judge the world and establish a new heaven and earth, where we will dwell in eternal blessedness with Him.

A more extensive description of our core beliefs can be found in our Statement of Faith.

Our History

2008: Reston Community Church was replanted from History Church in Reston, Virginia and gathered for weekly services at a local movie theater on Sundays

2010: Moved from the movie theater location to Dogwood Elementary School in Reston, Virginia.

2020: Due to shutdowns resulting from COVID-19, RCC was unable to meet at the elementary school and began live, online services from the offices at Southview Community Church (where RCC had already begun to rent office space). During this time, RCC modified their lease with Southview to include the use of the sanctuary on Sunday afternoons for a weekly service. Once gathering restrictions were lifted, in-person services beganon a weekly basis at 4:30pm at Southview Community Church.

Location and Community Context

RCC shares a church building (sanctuary, offices, children’s ministry rooms and meeting rooms) owned by Southview Community Church. Southview meets Sunday mornings, and RCC currently meets at 4:30PM Sundays. The Southview and RCC pastors and staff have a good working relationship. RCC rents office space from Southview Community Church in the same building used for Sunday worship services. There are 2 dedicated offices, a dedicated staff workroom, plus the opportunity to reserve several other meeting rooms as needed. Southview has been incredibly generous in providing RCC with significant rental space for use during the week and on Sunday afternoons at below market rate.

The facility is located at 2620 Reston Parkway Herndon, VA 20171, adjacent to the town of Reston in Fairfax County, Virginia. We are 25 miles from Washington, D.C., 13 miles from the Capitol Beltway, and 5 miles from Dulles International Airport.

Surrounding Community

RCC members and attendees live in several Northern Virginia communities within driving distance from the church facility.

Major employers in the area are the U.S. Government and government contractors/consultants, and commercial technology companies. Technology-oriented careers are commonplace in the church and in the area, but a variety of workplace environments are represented in the church.

Although Fairfax County is one of the wealthiest in the nation, the local economy is diverse, from multi-million dollar homes to low-income apartments, homeless shelters and encampments all within a few miles of the church building.
