 Job Description/Responsibilities:

This position’s responsibilities are described as a Pastor for the McGregor Church. The pastor will create sermons based on the Holy Bible to preach to the congregation on Sunday’s during service. The pastor may create lessons for discussion at adult Sunday school. The pastor will create special sermons as needed throughout the year. The pastor will participate in church boards, praise services, and youth and teen activities as requested. The pastor will visit congregation members at home or in hospitals who have special needs and circumstances. The pastor will conduct baptisms, weddings, and funerals as needed. Titus 1:9: “He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”


The Pastor will:

·        Believe and Lead the church in the Holy Word of the Lord and led by the Holy Spirit.

·        Create and conduct sermons focused on the Word of the Holy Bible.

·        Provide support to the congregation for special events and activities.

·        Provide support to the congregation during times of medical, emotional, and spiritual need.

·        Participate in other church activities.

·        Be approachable.

·        Be available.

·        Speak clearly.

·        Listen to the congregation’s needs and feedback.


Additional tasks that may be required include:

·        Provide clear and accurate communications to congregation.

·        Identify initial risks, issues and constraints impacting the church.

·        Work collaboratively with church board leaders in the development of church priorities ensuring the successful longevity of the church.

·        Provide ethical and Biblical leadership to the congregation.

·        Assist in the development of key priorities of the church.

·        Identify and recommend new processes, techniques and standards that drive longevity and improvement of the church.

Required Qualifications:

·        Intimate knowledge of the Holy Bible.

·        Christian experience and call to ministry.

·        2 - 5 years of church leadership experience, in some capacity, including but not limited to, pastor, assistant pastor, deacon, youth pastor, minister associate, lay servant, missionary, Sunday school teacher, administrative board member, youth and/or teen leader.

·        Willingness to participate in continuous education.

·        Must be able to pass a background check and drug/alcohol test.

·        Planning, organizational and leadership skills.

·        Strong communication skills including verbal, written, presentations, facilitation, and conflict resolution.

·        Interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people of all ages.

·        Experience with children and teens.


Hours and Travel:

Hours for this position will vary week to week. Travel is required to congregation homes and local hospitals. Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet congregational needs. Individuals must have a valid driver’s license.

 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary will vary based on experience and education. Salary will range from $40,000 to $50,000. Benefits include medical contributions and housing stipends. Mileage and expenses for travel. Retirement contribution. Salary and benefits are negotiable.


Interview Process: 

Initial interview will be with the pastor committee. Final candidates will then be interviewed by the board of trustees at the church. Potential candidate(s) from the second interview will be invited to informal meeting(s) with church committee(s), conducting a sermon on a Sunday morning, with a potluck and informal question and answer session with the congregation following the service.

About McGregor Church

Church Summary:

McGregor Church was established over 100 years ago. We recently separated from the United Methodist denomination. We are a growing church with an average attendance of 150-175. We have many older generations who were raised in this church, along with many new, young families with children. We focus on the word of the Holy Bible and believe the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. Sunday church service is held from 10:30 – 11:30 am. We typically have three Sunday school classes with anywhere from 4 – 16 children and youth. Sunday school is held during Sunday church services. We also have an adult Sunday school class which meets before Sunday church service from 9:45-10:15 am. We have a praise service on Wednesday nights from 5:40-6 pm. We have a choir who sings on Sundays and practices on Wednesday evenings. We also have a women’s group who meets regularly. We have many of the congregation who volunteer to help with many activities, including, but not limited to, AV booth, Sunday school, youth and teen groups, vacation bible school, children’s Christmas program, Good Friday and Easter sunrise services, praise services, choir leader, pianists, potlucks, Project Blessing group support, and many others.
